Research Paper Submission Guidelines
Research Paper Types
The Economic Institute publishes the following categories of research papers:
- Empirical Study — Original quantitative or qualitative research with primary or secondary data analysis. Typically 6,000-10,000 words.
- Theoretical Framework — Development or extension of economic theory, including formal models. Typically 5,000-8,000 words.
- Policy Evaluation — Rigorous assessment of economic policies using established evaluation methodologies. Typically 6,000-9,000 words.
- Literature Review — Systematic review and synthesis of existing research on a specific economic topic. Typically 5,000-8,000 words.
- Methodological Study — Papers advancing research methodology in economics, including econometric techniques. Typically 5,000-8,000 words.
Methodology Standards
- —Clearly state research questions and hypotheses
- —Describe data sources, collection methods, and sample characteristics
- —Provide sufficient methodological detail for replication
- —Address potential endogeneity, selection bias, and other methodological concerns
- —Include robustness checks where appropriate
Formatting Requirements
- —Manuscripts should be submitted in PDF or DOCX format
- —Use 12pt serif font (Times New Roman or similar) with 1.5 line spacing
- —Include a structured abstract of 250-350 words (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions)
- —Provide 4-8 keywords and JEL classification codes
- —Number all equations, figures, and tables sequentially
- —Citations should follow APA 7th edition format
- —Appendices for detailed derivations, additional tables, or supplementary analysis
Review Process
Research paper submissions undergo a rigorous three-stage review:
- Desk Review — The editorial team screens for scope, methodological soundness, and academic contribution within 1-2 weeks.
- Double-Blind Peer Review — Papers passing desk review are sent to 2-3 expert reviewers. This stage typically takes 4-6 weeks.
- Editorial Decision — Final decisions are made by the editorial board based on reviewer recommendations.
Ethics & Data Requirements
- —Disclose all funding sources and potential conflicts of interest
- —Research involving human subjects must have IRB/ethics approval
- —Data and code should be made available for replication upon acceptance (or explain restrictions)
- —Follow established guidelines for responsible use of AI tools in research
